Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit - Austin, TX
April 8-10, 2008
The 2nd Annual Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit gathered over 250 of the brightest minds in the Linux ecosystem to discuss where Linux is, where it needs to go and how we can all help get it there. It is the only event of its kind that brings together leaders from the kernel, end user, desktop, legal and vendor communities.

Linux Foundation Japan Symposium - Tokyo
March 12-13, 2008
Three times a year, the Linux Foundation Japan office brings in leading Linux luminaries for the LF Japan Symposium to present and interact with local senior software developers to increase open source participation by talented Japanese developers.
Linux Foundation China Symposium - Beijing
February 19-20 , 2008
The Linux Developer Symposium in Beijing, co-hosted by The Linux Foundation and the China Open Source Promotion Union, gathered leading kernel developers with Chinese engineers from the corporate, academic and government sectors for the purpose of technical collaboration and exchange. The goals of this union was to increase Chinese developer participation in Linux and educate kernel developers of Chinese open source projects and resources. Over 300 people attended.
Speakers include: Andrew Morton of Google, Jonathan Corbet of LWN, Coly Li of SUSE Labs/Novell, Dave Neary of GNOME Foundation, Matt Mackall of Selenic Consulting and Jim Zemlin of our very own, Linux Foundation.
Linux Foundation Japan Symposium - Tokyo
November 1 – 2, 2007
Three times a year, the Linux Foundation Japan office brings in leading Linux luminaries for the LF Japan Symposium to present and interact with local senior software developers to increase open source participation by talented Japanese developers.
This symposium also included an OpenPrinting Meeting with the OpenPrinting Japan work group and representatives of Japanese printer manufacturers, moderated by Till Kamppeter, OpenPrinting Manager, The Linux Foundation.
Linux Foundation Legal Summit – Boston
October 25 - 26, 2007
The first LF legal conference was open only to legal counsel from Linux Foundation members and included legal representatives from HP, IBM, Intel, Novell and many other leading open source companies, with participants focusing on the issues of greatest common interest and concern, including agreeing upon the next steps towards building a legal defense infrastructure for Linux.
The Linux Foundation will hold two legal conferences each year that will leverage the community and its members to increase the understanding of legal issues in open source. These conferences will be the first and only neutral, non-profit legal forums where leading attorneys from open source companies and the community collaborate to solve legal issues surrounding open source.

Participants included Paul Menage and Jonathan Corbet, as well as key engineers from NEC, Fujitsu, Hitachi, NTT and other leading technology companies in Japan.
Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit – Mountain View, CA
June 13 – 15, 2007
The first ever Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit was held at Google's Mountain View Campus. This invitation-only meeting for LF members and key Linux ecosystem participants gathered 250 of the community’s best and brightest including Greg KH, Ted Ts'o, Daniel Frye, Mark Shuttleworth, Andrew Morton, Christy Wyatt and many more. In 2008 and beyond, the Collaboration Summit will be held twice a year, in the spring and in the fall in various locations.
